Drought-Tolerant Landscape

Since Orange, CA, is prone to droughts, we have implemented drought-tolerant landscaping. This means we use plants that don’t require much water, such as succulents. We have also installed a drip irrigation system and limit the number of grass areas that require watering. This setup allows us to save gallons of water each day! 

Low-Flow Toilets

In the apartments, we save water with our low-flow toilets . While most toilets use about 3.5 gallons of water every time they flush, ours use about 20 percent less. Each low-flow toilet can surprisingly save up to 13,000 gallons of water per year.

Paperless Processes

At Lantern Bay, we save paper by moving our paperwork online, including applications, rent payments, service requests, and notices. Not only does this eliminate the need for unnecessary paper waste, but it is also much more convenient for residents.

Bottle Refill Station

We have a bottle refill station on the property, so there is no need to buy disposable plastic water bottles; residents can simply refill their reusable bottles whenever they need to.

Recycling

One of the best ways to live green is to recycle. We have recycling bins in our office, and we encourage all residents to recycle as well. Here are some things you can and can’t recycle :

  • Do recycle: plastic bottles and containers, empty cans, paper, and flattened cardboard
  • Don’t recycle: food, liquid, plastic bags, plastic wrap, or cups with wax or plastic coating

Organic waste recycling will be coming soon to our local community, and we can’t wait to participate!
